2013 Evans Pinot Noir
Matt Evans has been our winemaker since 2010, and Evans Pinot Noir is his special project. This label allows Matt to step outside of the traditions of the Elke Wines, and explore different techniques (some modern, most ancient) in pursuit of great Pinot Noir. This 2013 vintage demonstrates the use of whole clusters during fermentation (approx 33%), a single barrel cooper (Sirugue, from Burgundy), and a certain selection of Pinot Noir vine (primarily Dijon 115) from a unique low-cropping region of Donnelly Creek Vineyard of Anderson Valley. Look for strawberries and cinnamon and white pepper, supple texture, and an intriguing intermingling of savory and caramelized notes on the palate.
Please note: this wine is young and unfiltered, so it will develop sediment. We highly recommend decanting it for maximum enjoyment.
